NELA Clothing Company

Northeast LA is Highland Park, Eagle Rock, Glassell Park, Cypress Park, Atwater Village, Mount Washington, Montecito Heights, El Sereno, Lincoln Heights, Garvanza, Hermon, Monterey Hills and Frogtown. It's a part of the city built on do-it-yourself ingenuity, with deep roots in music, hot rods, motorcycle culture, BMX, skateboarding and graffiti.

Andrés Cuervo, a Glassell Park native, started NELA Clothing Company in 2013 as the first brand made to represent the area. The first run was 25 tees with the circle logo. He called the style “Neo-Classic LA”: classic LA, made new.

A lot of the neighborhood's history lives in stories told by elders and longtime neighbors, and too much of it gets lost. Each design carries a piece of it, often through the artists who grew up here.

Everything is printed to order, one piece at a time.
